INDIANAPOLIS (Press Release) - Local human service organizations can apply by Wednesday, November 23 to United Way of Central Indiana (UWCI) for grants up to $50,000 to be funded with support from the Ruth Lilly Philanthropic Foundation. This is the fifth year of the partnership.
The completed form is due to UWCI by 1 p.m. on Nov. 23. No faxes or emails will be accepted. Applicants can download the application from UWCI’s website, www.uwci.org .
Ellen K. Annala, UWCI’s president and chief executive officer, said the decision is "good news in the midst of the current, deep economic recession. In addition to continuing the giving legacy of Ruth. Lilly, the partnership has given us the means to say 'yes, we'll help' to neighbors who are hurting, when other resources have been tapped out."
UWCI will consider requests from local nonprofit organizations that deliver human service programs relating to one or more of the 18 community outcomes identified by United Way, whether or not the agencies are affiliated with United Way.
The outcomes, listed on the application, include programs that help families thrive, kids succeed, and communities to become more vibrant and people to be better connected to critical social services.
The grant review committee will be especially mindful of agencies and programs providing for basic needs for families who are struggling from continuing economic challenges in our community.
Applicants must be located in the six-county region served by UWCI: Boone, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Marion and Morgan counties.
