INDIANAPOLIS (Press Release) - At the December 14 meeting of the Wayne Township Education Foundation Board of Directors, the Foundation board approved an unprecedented $50,000 gift to the Lynhurst Plan for Academic Achievement. The check was presented at a community meeting at Lynhurst 7th & 8th Grade Center on December 15 by Wayne Township Education Foundation Vice President, Cookie Vargo. Cookie Vargo noted in her remarks, "As part of the Wayne Township family, the Wayne Township Education Foundation is pleased to be in a position to help fund some pieces of the Lynhurst plan to ensure students attain the level of achievement needed." Lynhurst Principal, Dan Wilson, commented, "The students and staff of Lynhurst Center, as well as our entire community, are grateful for the generous financial gift provided by the Wayne Township Education Foundation. This gift will provide critical support for essential components of our intervention plan to save our school. This includes student support for students staying for after school tutoring, a community liaison to support family engagement, and curriculum materials for our 212 instructional period, every day. It will also provide materials to support our more than 200 HOSTS volunteers from the Wayne community. Most importantly, this gift will ultimately serve to keep Lynhurst Center safely in the Wayne Township family.
